Ingredients (Serves 2 – 3 as a snack)
1. Idli – 6, cubed or slightly crumbled
2. Boneless chicken breast – 200 gm, cut into small pieces
3. Coconut oil – 1 tbsp
4. Onion – 1/2 cup, finely chopped
Ginger – 1 tsp, finely chopped
Garlic – 1 tsp, finely chopped
Green chilly – 1, finely chopped
Curry leaves – A few, torn
5. Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
Chilly powder – 1/2 tsp
Sugar – 1 pinch
6. Tomato – 1 medium, chopped
7. Garam masala powder – 1/2 tsp
Pepper powder – 1/4 tsp
8. Salt – To taste
Method
1. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat and add onion, ginger, garlic, green chilly and curry leaves. Saute until onion turns light brown. Add turmeric powder, chilly powder and sugar. Saute until their raw smell disappears. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until oil separates. Add chicken pieces. Cook for 3 – 4 minutes until done. Add garam masala powder and mix well.
2. Next add idli pieces and cook for a few minutes. Crush the idlis and chicken pieces using a spatula while you cook. Sprinkle a pinch of pepper powder, a few curry leaves and mix well. Switch off. Sprinkle some chopped cilantro, a tsp of coconut oil and serve hot.
